Through 1st and 2nd of February, Gaelic nations traditionally celebrate the first day of spring.
Originally thought to be a Pagan festival, Imbolc or Oimelc marks the start of the lambing season. It is the first festival of the year on the Pagan calendar, situated half way between Yule and the Spring Equinox (Ostara).
Signs of spring are already visible with the fattening of buds on the trees,

increased bird activity in the garden, catkins gracing the hedgerow and tiny white Snowdrops pushing their way through leaves and frozen earth.
Snowdrop walks in the UK are very popular at this time of year but due to the Covid lockdown situation people will unlikely to be able to visit these amazing displays. However, a number of the Snowdrop festivals and walks are going virtual this year so we need not miss these glorious heralders of spring.
